The Ohio Pet Fund is a fiscally responsible charitable group with a two-decade history of helping pets and their people In Ohio. In 2025, we have already granted over 99% of the funds received from license plate sales last year. We are able to operate with low overhead and minimal bureaucracy because we have an all-volunteer board. Our mission is a home for every pet! Help us get there by promoting the plate.
We are 25 years old! Founded in the year 2000, the Ohio Pet Fund started as a group with a dream of ending pet overpopulation. We were added into Ohio's state statute via the Ohio Revised Code in 2004 and soon began generating funds from pet license plates for spay and neuter. However, the funds are no longer enough for the great need in Ohio. Due to the overpopulation crisis, we are currently diligently working on other avenues to generate more funding for the groups in Ohio that depend on us for help. We are transparent and our recent tax returns are available online.
The more pet friendly plates we sell, the more animals we can help. Stop by your Deputy Registrar's office or visit oplates.com to share your love for cats and dogs.
Our "CAT FRIENDLY" and "DOG FRIENDLY" plates helped to spay and neuter thousands of pets in Ohio over the last 20 years. Every time you purchase a plate, you help non-profit groups, animal shelters and humane societies prepare a homeless pet for adoption! Only $25.
Please share this ad or any of our images in your adoption packets. This year we gave over 175 spay-neuter grants! Help us give more. The more license plates we sell, the more animals we can help!

THANK YOU to all of the above groups who have helped spread the word about our pet plate.
All who love bully dogs have a reason to celebrate! The Bureau of Motor Vehicles released a specialty license plate logo, a dog-friendly image of a happy brown and white boy sporting a huge smile, blue collar, and gold dog tag that says "Adopt." Drawn by nationally syndicated cartoonist Jenny Campbell, creator of the daily comic strip “Flo and Friends,” the perfect ‘dog model’ for the new logo was a rescue mix named Jack!
Jack was rescued from the Cleveland City Kennel by animal advocate Timy Sullivan, who helped create the City Dogs adoption program. "Jack was found roaming the streets, dragging a broken leg and was VERY suspicious of people,” said cartoonist Jenny Campbell, "but Timy fell in love with him instantly." Jack now greets friends with kisses.
In addition to the City Dogs program, Timy was the first executive director at Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village; and later, helped create PetFix Northeast Ohio, a low-cost spay-neuter clinic. Said Timy, “When Jenny told me about the plate, I was overjoyed...I’ve been blessed with many wonderful dogs in my life, but Jack is my heart dog. He taught me so much about forgiveness and resilience and the joy of living in the present.” Proceeds from the license plate will assist hundreds of Ohio organizations.
So far this year we have distributed approximately 175 spay-neuter grants, and over 99% of the funds we received from the pet license plate last year. Because we are an all-volunteer board, we are able to operate with low overhead and minimal bureaucracy to get spay-neuter funds to your organization!

Check the blue section for the application and information about eligibility for our grants if this is your first application. If your organization has already received a grant this year and is interested in second-round spay-neuter funding, email ohiopetfund2 at gmail.
Ohio dog wardens, Ohio humane societies, Ohio 501c3 organizations and nonprofit veterinary associations can receive our grants.
One of the best ways you can help is to buy a pet license plate. Having a vehicle sporting a pet license plate where other pet lovers will see it is our best advertisement!
